Our partnership with Fort Belvoir Hospital provides access to Military Family Life Counselors (MFLCs), who offer confidential counseling and support services to students and families in need.

Investing in Our Future: A Bright New Chapter for STEAM Education

We're thrilled to announce that FCPS has been awarded a $1.5 million grant from the Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) to enhance STEAM education at Fort Belvoir Primary and Upper Elementary School. We here at the Fort have been fortunate enough to earn this distiguished award for the 6th time in a row.  This funding allows us to continue to implement the PROPEL STEAM program, providing our students with cutting-edge learning opportunities and preparing them for the jobs of the future.

As a military-connected school, Fort Belvoir Upper Elementary School is a vibrant and ever-changing community. We welcome new students and families throughout the year, which brings a unique energy and diversity to our campus. While this constant turnover can present challenges, it also offers incredible opportunities for growth and connection.

Our staff is experienced in helping students adjust to new environments and form lasting friendships. We understand the importance of creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere where everyone feels valued and supported. By embracing change and celebrating diversity, we foster a strong sense of community that benefits all of our students.

A Brief Stop, A Lasting Impact

Our school is a temporary home for many students, but our influence extends far beyond their time with us. Due to the transiency of our student population, our students are only here for a short time.  Every year at 6th grade promotion, we have students stand up to see how long they have made Fort Belvoir their home.  When we get to 6th grade, there are only 4-5 students standing.  However, we foster a strong sense of community, academic rigor, and personal growth. Our goal is to inspire students to reach their full potential and equip them with the tools they need to succeed in their future endeavors even though they are only here a short time.

At Fort Belvoir Upper Elementary School, we understand that moving to a new location can be both exciting and daunting. That's why we have a dedicated group of military-connected parents, our Family Ambassadors, who are ready to lend a helping hand.

These experienced parents offer invaluable support to newly arriving families by:

• Providing essential information: Answering questions about the school, district, and local community.
• Facilitating connections: Introducing new families to other military families and local resources.
• Organizing social events: Hosting welcome events and gatherings to foster friendships and community.
• Advocating for student needs: Collaborating with school staff to address the unique challenges faced by military-connected students.

By creating a strong network of support, our Family Ambassadors help ensure a smooth transition for all new families.
