threeCommunity Engagement is Part of Our Foundation

We are proud of our work to engage our community. We partner with Capital Food Bank to provide a monthly food market in which families in need can pull up in their vehicle, communicate what items they’d like to take home and have a staffer bring it to their car, or they are welcome to come in and shop for useful products themselves. On Veterans Day, we invite local veterans to read to kids. One school favorite is Arnie, an 89-year-old who served in Vietnam and is very animated when he reads!

We host an annual Monster Mash family dance in October, sponsored by our Parent Teacher Organization, to bring families together ahead of Halloween too! Often military families are seeking ways to connect with other families. This is a wonderful opportunity for families to connect and share their experiences.

A Brief Stop, A Lasting Impact

Our school is a temporary home for many students, but our influence extends far beyond their time with us. Due to the transiency of our student population, our students are only here for a short time.  Every year at 6th grade promotion, we have students stand up to see how long they have made Fort Belvoir their home.  When we get to 6th grade, there are only 4-5 students standing.  However, we foster a strong sense of community, academic rigor, and personal growth. Our goal is to inspire students to reach their full potential and equip them with the tools they need to succeed in their future endeavors even though they are only here a short time.
