English Language Arts Strategies

Outcome

  • By June 2025, the percentage of students with disabilities in grades K-2 meeting or exceeding VALLSS screener benchmarks will increase by 5 percentage points from fall 2024 to spring 2025.
  • By June 2025, the percentage of all students in grades K-2 meeting or exceeding the VALLSS screener benchmarks will increase by 5 percentage points from fall 2024 to spring 2025.    

Strategy 1

  • Increase efficiency of instructional delivery to ensure all students have daily access to all components of the language arts block as outlined in the new core curriculum.

Strategy 2

  • Leverage use of daily, explicit language comprehension lessons from the new core curriculum for building knowledge and vocabulary.

Strategy 3

  • Increase use of data to plan instruction and monitor progress during intervention to ensure that students demonstrating risk master foundational skills.

Mathematics Strategies

Outcome

  • By June 2025, the percentage of students with disabilites meeting or exceeding the EMAS/iReady grade level benchmark will increase five or more percentage points from 43% to 48%.
  • By June 2025, the percentage of all students meeting or exceeding the EMAS/iReady grade level benchmark will increase five or more percentage points from 67% to 72%.

  • Increase teachers' content knowledge and implementation of the 2023 FCPS mathematics program of studies.

Strategy 2

  • Increase teacher implementation of explicit instruction and other components of effective mathematics intervention.

Discipline

Outcome

  • By June 2025, Fort Belvoir Primary staff will utilize an MTSS framework to establish and organize a schoolwide continuum of proactive behavior and wellness supports to reduce the office calls for behavior support by 5%. 

Strategy 1

  • Provide tailored professional development for teachers and staff on Tier 1 wellness practices, including culturally responsive teaching, conflict resolution, and trauma-informed care. Offer specialized training on restorative justice for effective disciplinary approaches.

Strategy 2

  • Utilize regional support teams to analyze discipline data and wellness data bi-monthly to identify students in need of Tier 2 and Tier 3 interventions. Integrate consistent analysis of discipline data disaggregated by subgroups (race/ethnicity, SWD, EL, FRM).

Strategy 1

  • By June 2025, 49.5% of students with disabilities will make one year's growth on iReady, a 10% increase from previous year.
  • By June 2025, 71.2% of all students in grades 3-6 will pass the Spring 2025 Math SOL tests (increase of 5 percentage points compared to 2024)

  • Our students with disabilities will increase their math SOL pass rate from 32% to 42% (unadjusted), a 10% increase from last year.
