Student Health

If your student is not feeling well, we ask that you please keep them home. They may still access the class virtually.

If your child will be absent from school, please email Primary's attendance at @email or call 703-781-2750 with the reason why your child is absent. Please be specific about the reason why your child will not be attending.

Playground News!

After careful consideration, the county has approved the use of playground equipment. Please note, there is limited transmission from solely touching surfaces. Instead, it appears that transmission is connected to hands touching mouths and noses following contact with droplets with SARS-CoV-2. As a result of the risk-benefit analysis, FCPS will permit the use of playground apparatuses during the school day contingent upon the implementation of the required mitigation strategies.

Mitigation strategies include students covering their mouths and noses with face masks while using the equipment to minimize students’ ability to put their hands on/in their mouth or nose. Additionally, students are required to sanitize their hands immediately before and immediately after using the equipment. Similar to other COVID-related plans, the county will monitor our data and collaborate with the Health Department to determine an alternate course of action if it is determined that transmission in schools is related to use of the playground equipment.

We have created a schedule to ensure that the playground is not crowded, reinforcing the expectation that students socially distance. As always, Fort Belvoir Primary administration will continue to keep you updated! Thank you for your continued support!

Bus Rider Information

With the upper grades returning to the school building next week, we ask that parents check their ParentVUE accounts to make sure your student's bus information has not changed. This only applies to bus riders.

Parent Approval Needed for Digital Resources!

permission

At Fort Belvoir Elementary, our teachers will use a variety of digital resources to support student learning and promote communication and collaboration with students and families. Some of the digital resources your child may use this year will require your consent before they can be used. You can find our school’s list of the resources that require parental consent here.

Included on this page is also a link to a form where the enrolling parent or guardian will need to indicate whether or not their student is allowed to use the list of digital resources this year. Please note, that the form will need to be filled in for each enrolled child. This page also provides more information about how FCPS carefully reviews digital resources for approval and why we must request your consent before using certain tools. We encourage you to complete the parental consent for digital resources form as soon as possible, as your child will not be able to use the digital resources until we have received your permission. Please reach out to your child’s teacher or our School Based Technology Specialists Rejane Martinez (Upper School) or Lauren Damico (Primary School) if you have questions or concerns about the digital resources we’ve chosen to use this year.

Technology Support for Families

technology support

The FCPS Technology Resource page provides tip sheets and support in multiple languages. These tip sheets provide answers to basic questions about FCPS technologies. Often you can find the answer to your question in these resources. For technical support questions about your online parent accounts, your student’s FCPS laptop, or technology your student uses for online learning, contact the Parent Technology Help Desk (toll free) at 833-921-3277 or enter a support request ticket via the Parent and Student IT Portal.

The Parent Technology Help Desk will be answered 7 a.m.-11 p.m., seven days a week. Parents who need help in a language other than English should let help desk staff know, and an interpreter will join them on the line. (FCPS has Parent Information Phone Lines available in eight languages to assist with general questions about FCPS.)

FCPS Principal Evaluation Parent/Guardian Feedback Form

Fort Belvoir Primary parents/guardians will be contacted through email with a link to the FCPS Principal Evaluation Parent/Guardian Feedback Form Online. This questionnaire is part of the Performance Evaluation Program and offers parents/guardians an opportunity to provide anonymous input about various topics related to our school. These topics include instructional leadership, school climate, human resources management, organizational management, communication and community relations and professionalism.

Additionally, the survey is used to assess my impact and effectiveness as principal. Understanding that this has been an unusual year, the impacts of COVID-19 will be taken into consideration when reviewing the feedback.

The questionnaire was sent on Monday morning from @email. Please take a few minutes to complete the questionnaire. Reminders will be sent periodically to only those parents/guardians who have not complete the questionnaire.

Your opinions matter and I look forward to reviewing the feedback.

If you have not received a survey link and wish to provide feedback, Please email @email and Shelli Wayland will send you a link

I am extremely grateful for your time and support. Take care. Stay healthy.

Principal
